Where Did We Come From?

Where Did We Come From

When The Black Cockatoo Preservation Society took over the lease of a former tourist wildlife park, it inherited over 100 red and grey kangaroos and wallabies, emus, deer and birds that the previous park operators were unable to relocate.

For a time the fate of these animals was uncertain until Wildlife Australia Inc took on the responsibility and cost for their care.

Wildlife Australia Inc and The Black Cockatoo Preservation Society have formed a partnership and cooperate in the caring for all the resident animals in the Kaarakin wildlife park.

In the future, when the park has been revitalised by volunteer workforce and is suitable for opening to the public we will be seeking to raise funds on a strictly not for profit basis, Similarly through our new individual animal sponsorship program, people who wish, can contribute regularly to an animals upkeep. On open days these valuable sponsors are invited as guests to the park to meet their special animal.

An Open Day is schedule for June 11th and although it is early days for our adoption program, interested members of the public are invited to contact us, anyway, to arrange a tour of the park and to view the progress made in just twelve months. The open day is to be held on Red Heart Day.

Lotteries West has recently enabled us to replace some of our ageing infrastructure. Fencing in need of attention, fresh water feeders and shelters are in place or currently in the process of being installed.
